This workshop prepares participants to deploy products or systems in a way that minimizes transition failures. It blends the requirements for transition, such as the provision of documentation and testing, with the requirements for ongoing support, such as the provision of technical assistance and the creation of service level agreements that detail responsibilities and confirm expectations.
The concepts and tools included in this workshop include:
The creation of solid product documentation
The creation and deployment of training programs that ensure user adoption and understanding and that produce measurable results
User testing, including the deployment of a model office that allows for the deployment of a working configuration of the system using non-live data
The creation of service level agreements that define services and expectations
Module 1: Introduction to the workshop
-In this module, we will detail the course objectives and schedule and identify participant interests and concerns, roles and responsibilities Module 2: Documentation of the product or system
-In this module, we will describe best practices in system or product documentation with the goal of creating understandable and long-lasting documentation that enables users to deploy the system and manage subsequent changes. Participants will be engaged in an exercise to create system or product documentation. Module 3: Training plans and programs
-In this module, participants will be exposed to methods for creating training plans to ensure that users have a solid understanding of the product or system and the ability to fully deploy the system. Methods of training will be compared, and tools for measuring training impact will be described. Module 4: Model office deployment -In this module, participants will be exposed to the deployment of a model office as a means of ensuring that users have the opportunity to fully engage with the system prior to full deployment, that the system is fully usable, and that necessary changes are identified. Best practices in model office deployment will be described as well as methods for documenting outcomes and managing the model office deployment. Module 5: Service level agreements
-In this module, participants will be engaged in a discussion of service level agreements to include necessary clauses, best practices and service measurement. Participants will be engaged in an exercise to create a good SLA that both builds the relationship and manages performance and accountability. Module 6: Workshop wrap-up
This workshop is targeted to project managers, business analysts, project team members, system or product users and those responsible for product testing. An understanding of project management (gained through experience or attendance in other workshops in this series) is recommended.
